BIOGRAPHY

Allie Mellen is a computer engineer by training who has spent the past decade in engineering, research, and technical consulting roles at multiple venture-backed startups, as well as research roles at MIT and BU. She ran an engineering and development consultancy for a number of years and she also worked with multiple nonprofits to teach engineering and entrepreneurship to students and minorities. She got started in security as a hacker researching vulnerabilities in hardware devices, which culminated in a talk at Black Hat USA. Now, she is a principal analyst on the security and risk team at Forrester, where she covers security operations. She is a frequent speaker at security conferences globally teaching about security and pushing the boundaries of the industry. She is very passionate about security for individuals, businesses, and governments, and believes the path to a more secure future is through a combination of subject matter expertise and effective communication.
